Coconut jam and butter? Yes!
You will be surprised of the combination. But this is not like our version. Kaya is what’s commonly called here, greenish in appearance , made with eggs, coconut milk and sugar. Our style of coco jam are cooked mostly in sugar & coconut milk and it’s thick caramel-like looking. This nonya kaya from @breadtalksg is not so sweet. You need to toast your bread first , locals use crustless bread, put in butter then spread the kaya. You’ll find most uncles and aunties eating this with half cooked boiled eggs & black coffee at the kopitiam (coffee shop).
I also have here toasted bread and @lilyspeanutbutter for the win.
Makan time!
